Keeping Storey Strong with Smart Growth and Small Town Values

Balanced Growth

I support balanced controlled growth, the kind that builds on our strengths without overwhelming our neighborhoods, our historic gems in Virginia City, and our open spaces. Those who have come before me have laid the groundwork and I plan to work hard, ensuring we continue on that track. The Virginia City Highlands (District 2) has experienced considerable growth since the pandemic and our infrastructure is in need of some upgrades in order to handle the growth we are experiencing. There are quite a few projects in the works, Cartwright rehabilitation, a new mailbox building, fiber internet and further improvements to our community center. As your Commissioner, I will work to ensure these projects are completed along with the other projects that are needed in our other communities throughout Storey County.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the backbone of daily life, roads that hold up through our winters, solid emergency services, good stormwater drainage, and keeping everything running smoothly. I’ll fight to bring in state and federal help to upgrade what we have and prepare for the future, making sure our communities stay safe and connected.

Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center

I’ve seen how the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) has brought good jobs to the region and revenue to the County. That growth has come with real challenges, like tougher traffic on I-80 and that turns short drives into long, frustrating and sometimes risky ones. Recent improvements, like the new traffic signals at spots such as Sydney Drive and Waltham Way, are helpful starts, but we need to keep pushing for more: smarter road widenings, better regional connections, and practical ideas to ease the congestion.

Arts & History

Our arts, history, and community events are what make Storey County feel alive, from the Comstock history, local festivals, artists, and all the things that bring people together and draw visitors. I’ll work to support the arts and history because they boost our economy and our local pride.

I’m running for Storey County Commissioner because I live here and care deeply about keeping our community the tight-knit, special place it is. With our small population, we are like one big extended family, and I want to make sure our government works for all of us. Storey County has a lot going for it, and with common-sense leadership, we can handle the growth smartly, fix the TRI Center traffic headaches, keep our arts and heritage thriving, strengthen our basics, and make sure every voice counts. Above all, I’ll be there for you. Government should be approachable and not distant. I’ll make sure your thoughts about a road issue, a development concern, wildfire prep, or anything else, get heard. Vote Damian Plumb as your next Commissioner!
